I really believe in it ... it's never about how much you can do , or achieve , but it's all about whether you are making an effort .
our Indonesian maid will be leaving Taiwan for good not long after Chinese New Year ... and we are getting a new maid , of course . as we were having dinner together this Monday , my dad mentioned a " surprising " news - my mom is actually considering hiring a maid from the Philipines ...
why ? since my parents don't speak English , ( except for my mom did impress me by saying " Mahjong Friends " in English to Chris one day - which I had never heard before ) , why would my mom want a maid who speaks English ....
the answer is ~
my dad said that he realised what my mom 's " scheme " was as soon as he heard the idea of hiring a Philipina maid... he said , my mom wants to learn English ... in order to talk to my HB - Chris ..... ha ha ha .... and my mom didn't deny it .... I think it's kinda cute and sweet of my mom .
my dad patted on Chris' back ... twice ... and he bought some nice dried "Mullet " fish eggs for him to take home with ...
again ... I had never seen my parents acting like the way they did to Chris ... in fact , the whole family , including my relatives are having really positive responds toward him ...
I have to say , I am a bit shocked but also flattered to see this ... for a long time , someone accused my family of being too critical ... when the fact is that he was being difficult and not making effort ( for the people who have known me long enough or knew him personally would know the whole story - and I can hardly remember the little details of it anyhow )
At first , I was extremely nervous about how they would get along .... but everything turned out great .... we even stayed in my room for a few days when my folks were around .
just like my family say ... though there is still a language barrier between them ... everyone can feel the effort he is making .... we appreciate the efforts ...
you want people to respect you ... you've got to respect others first , including their cultures and differences . especially when you are in their countries ... Just do as the Romans do ...

但是 這次為了 Chris 愛吃螃蟹 我爸特意去買超極大花蟹
還有他超級售歡迎的 糖醋排骨
還有 通常只有過年才吃的 "魷魚螺肉蒜"鍋
我媽的炒米粉 蝦球羹 煎魚
我爸的糖醋排骨 貞的是讚到沒話說 那個醬汁 連我媽都還是沒學會
用木炭加熱的螺肉蒜鍋 是我的最愛
