Excursions and round trips in Fjord Norway
Explore the fjords
Fjord1 Fylkesbaatane is delighted to share with you the finest of what Fjord Norway has to offer. You can let yourself be tempted and disembark along the route – taking hours or days to explore the local sights, before continuing your journey.
The World Heritage Tour
This tour goes by express boat from Bergen up the coast and deep into the Sognefjord. In the middle of the fjord you transfer to a ferry, before continuing towards the UNESCO protected Nærøyfjord. This unspoiled fjord is the narrowest in the world.
At a slow pace you sail past remote farms and hamlets, between mountains that rise 1,800 metres above the fjord, in to Gudvangen. A bus takes you on a scenic ride to Voss, and from here you travel on the train back to Bergen.

Island hopping from Bergen
Visit Bulandet, an amazing archipelago of 365 islands, and the old fishing village and trading post of Gåsvær. Experience first-hand this wild landscape facing the sea, with a myriad of skerries and islands sculpted by storm. The only other thing you have to decide is whether you are staying hours, days or weeks.

From Bergen to the glacier
Take the express boat from Bergen through a scenic landscape of islands and skerries, sailing the Sognefjord to Balestrand. This friendly village is a favourite amongst artists, known for its eye-catching architecture, its view of the fjord and snow-clad mountains.
From Balestrand a ferry carries you into the beautifully pristine Fjærlandsfjord. At Fjærland quay you continue with bus up to Bøyabreen, an arm of the huge Jostedalsbreen Glacier. There you visit the Norwegian Glacier Museum, where you learn about the history and inner life of glaciers.

The spectacular Sognefjord
This fjord cruise is proof that the joy of travelling lies in the journey. After passing the scenic islands and coastal landscape north of Bergen, you sail almost the full length of the Sognefjord. As if the scenery is not dramatic enough, you change vessels mid-fjord, from express boat to ferry.
In the inner reaches of the 204-kilometre long Sognefjord, lies Lærdal with Lærdalsøyri. This old village centre is magnificently preserved. A salmon river flows right through the centre of Lærdalsøyri – this is where King Harald V caught his first salmon. Be sure to visit the Norwegian Wild Salmon Centre with its fascinating exhibitions, and windows into the river itself.
